Pretty, Pretty Princesses

Fun is the name of the game at Simply Sassy Kids Spa

Anisa Williams is celebrating her fourth birthday by soaking her feet in kiwi/strawberry-scented bubbles.

Cloaked in a robe and wearing a crown, her beaming smile reveals just how special she feels at Simply Sassy Kids Spa.

Geared for girls ages 4 to 14, Simply Sassy is not a place for relaxation. Instead of the serene New Age sounds that you would hear in a traditional spa, a mix of lively pop music fills the air.

Furnished in a rainbow of colors, the spa makes young customers feel right at home and ready to bring out their inner divas. “We just have fun with it and show them a good time,” says co-owner Erika Harris, who opened the business with her friend Robin Williams. “We give them attention, and that’s a good thing.”

Using their own daughters as market research, Harris and Williams are confident that, with a little bit of age-appropriate pampering, they can help their little ladies gain a positive self image.

All of the spa treatments have sweet themes. Girls can soak their toes in a cotton-candy foot bath, get a strawberry-sherbet hand massage, and wrap up in chocolate-icing lotion. Services include the Ice Cream Mani & Pedi, the Picture Perfect Updo Style, and Glamour Girl Makeup.

Like traditional spas, treatment packages are available. Harris says the spa party packages have turned Simply Sassy into birthday-party central. Music, drinks, cupcakes, and invitations are provided; all the girls need to do is live it up.

Katie Hall, who celebrated her 10th birthday by being pampered from head to toe, leaves Simply Sassy full of enthusiasm.

“I just loved everything and had the best time ever,” she says. “My day was simply wonderful.”
