It’s 3 p.m. on a cloudless afternoon — the birds are chirping; the day is begging to be explored. But there’s just one little problem: The cable company — which said they’d be at your home by noon — is still nowhere to be found, leaving you stuck playing the waiting game.

It doesn’t have to be that way. You can get a little bit of time back by requesting the help of @ Your Service, a concierge and home-improvement enterprise aimed at making life a little less hectic. Need someone to pick up your dry cleaning? Do some of your shopping? Get your oil changed? @ Your Service can tackle those jobs, along with just about anything else you can think of. They can even watch your pets or check your home while you’re away.

“We cast a pretty wide net,” says President Susan Raymer, who started @ Your Service along with Lisa Chess in 1999. “We always tell our clients to tell us what they need done, and if we can do it, we absolutely will.”

The company can also help out on the home-improvement front. For instance, let’s say you need your house repainted. Instead of scouring the phone book and hoping for the best, you could make one simple call to @ Your Service and let them make the plans for you.

“We refer clients to companies that have long track records with us,” Raymer says. “So we basically take the risk and hassle out of finding the right person for the job.” Because the company is paid with referral fees, recommendations are free.
