Global Growth

May, 2009

Students at Clemmons Elementary School can read under Big Ben, skip across a Japanese bridge, or draw beside the Eiffel Tower. Soon, they’ll be able to paint a totem pole and perform in an Australian amphitheater. And, they might even learn a little something in the meantime.

Begun in response to the school’s theme of global communications, the budding Global Garden will represent each of the seven continents through native plants and architecture.

“Our goal is to make an interactive learning garden,” says Rich Griner, a parent and instrumental volunteer. Dozens of friends, family, teachers, and community members have invested their time, and recent grants from Lowe’s Home Improvement, the Village of Clemmons, and the PTA have ensured the garden’s growth.

To support Clemmons Elementary’s Global Garden, call 336-712-4444. Personalized bricks are available for $40.
